Abby Ginzberg

Abby Ginzberg is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who has made over 25 films about race, at-risk youth and unsung heroes of the legal profession. Ginzberg has served as the primary outreach coordinator on Phase 1 of the CCH-sponsored community engagement project that will be able to build on that experience as well as her personal ties to all of the partners during the national outreach portion of the project. She successfully oversaw the outreach and community engagement phase of her prior feature-length documentary, Soul of Justice: Thelton Henderson’s American Journey. It was broadcasted on public television in February 2008 and 2009 and played at film festivals around the country and abroad and received a number of awards including a CINE Golden Eagle, Silver Gavel, a Telly, Insight Award, Bay Area Women in Film and Television Distribuition Award, Special Acknowledgement Award, Black International Cinema Festival (Berlin). She has been recognized for her body of work by the California Assembly, the Bar Association of San Francisco with two Awards of Merit and was selected as one of five 2008 Gerbode Fellows by the Wallace Alexander Gerdobe Foundation.
