Quique Cruz
Producer/Director

Quique Cruz, is a Chilean-born musician /composer and writer who has created, performed, taught and recorded Latin American music for over thirty years. In addition, he has created, participated and consulted in multimedia productions involving theater, dance and visual arts.

Cruz has recorded and joined on stage: Jackson Browne, Mimi Fariña, Pete Seeger, Jorge Strunz, and Sting, among others. He published “Memories of an Ex-Chess player” a book about his experiences as a political exile. He is currently the leader of the Latino fusionjazz ensamble: Quijerema. He will be scoring the documentary The Road to Chulumani, directed by Rick Tejada Flores (USA. His next film project is a documentary about the legendary Afro-Venezuelan singer Maria Rodriguez.

Cruz has a degree in History from the University of California at Berkeley; earned a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Stanford University, and is presently a Ph. D. candidate in Modern Thought and Literature.

   

Marilyn Mulford
Producer/Director

Marilyn Mulford has worked in all aspects of documentary and experimental filmmaking for many years. She directed such works as Freedom On My Mind, a feature documentary portraying dramatic story of Mississippi Voter Registration Project, 1961-1964. It won many awards including Nomination for Academy Award in feature documentary category, and Grand Jury Prize for Best documentary, Sundance Film Festival. It aired on the national PBS “the American Experience”.

She produced and directed Chicano Park about a Mexican-American barrio being destroyed by city of San Diego. The film won Gold in Chicago and Houston International Film Festivals, and “Best of California” in the National Educational Film Festival. It was aired on National PBS. She also made a short film on same subject for the organization to save Barrio Logan. She participated in LaPeña Productions-Group creating multi-media-programs about repression in Latin American. 1969-1973 she worked on productions/screenings/distribution as member of New York Newsreel, an international film group that made and distributed socially relevant films.
