LANDMARK PBS SERIES ON LATINOS IN THE UNITED STATES

CPB Funds Work on “The Latino Americans”

WETA Washington, D.C. and Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB) have formed a partnership to produce a multi-part documentary series for PBS chronicling the experience, influence and impact of Latinos on the American historical narrative.  With the support of a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), research and development work has begun on The Latino Americans, slated to be broadcast in fall, 2011.

Los Angeles, CA (August 27, 2007) -- Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB), a non-profit organization funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, announced the appointment of Patricia Boero as LPB's new Executive Director. Boero brings decades of high-level expertise in the intersecting fields of philanthropy, filmmaking and socially responsible business. She was Director of the Sundance Institute's International Program, and Senior Program Officer at the MacArthur Foundation where she managed media programs, including funding for major public radio and television series.

PBS BROADCAST OF PUERTO RICAN REGIMENT DOCUMENTARY ON JUNE 7TH
Worldwide DVD Release - August 15, 2007

[Crompond, NY - May 15, 2007] - The experience of Latinos in the U.S. Army has rarely been portrayed in film. Now comes The Borinqueneers, the never-before-told story of the 65th Puerto Rican Regiment, the only all-Hispanic unit in the history of the U.S. Army. Narrated by Hector Elizondo (Chicago Hope, Pretty Woman), this compelling 60-minute documentary relies on interviews with the regiment's veterans and rare archival footage to trace the unique experience of the 65th, culminating in the Korean War and the dramatic events that would threaten its very existence. The Borinqueneers premieres on June 7, 2007 on public station WMFE in Orlando, Florida, and on PBS stations nationwide in August (check local listings).

in LPB Documentaries

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 6, 2005 -- Latino Public Broadcasting (LPB), a non-profit organization funded by The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, announced today that five documentaries will be showcased at this year’s Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF). The LPB documentaries are: “Race is the Place,” Mirror Dance,” The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo,” “Recalling Orange County” and “Al Otro Lado/To the Other Side.” The LPB Showcase will be held at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre while LALIFF will be held at the Egyptian Theatre. LPB Funded Documentary 'Farmingville' Takes the Special Jury Prize at Sundance

Los Angeles (January 2004). The Latino Public Broadcasting funded documentary FARMINGVILLE made it's theatrical premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival and left with a Special Jury Prize as the festival came to a close in Park City, Utah. FARMINGVILLE was awarded the Special Jury Prize out of 46 documentary feature films accepted into the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.
